[MIA version]

MIA Input:

At the present time, MIA supports two kinds of activity: making a new query and looking up a saved query.

In the new query section, you have three options for your search result.
1) You can choose to save the search result into a file on the server.
2) You can choose to email the result to yourself. In this case, file is not saved on the server.
3) You can choose to both save the result into a file on the server and to email it to yourself.

In the look up a saved query section, you have two options.
1) You can look up your saved query directly, if you know the name of your query. You need to enter the name of your query in the box provided.
2) You can look up all the queries you have saved on the server. You need to enter your e-mail address in the box provided. Make sure you have the correct e-mail address entered because your e-mail address is the key to your query records in a database on the server.

New Query

The input to the new query section contains the following fields:

Name:
Enter your name in the box provided. This will be used as the file name for your query, if you don't provide a suggested name in the "Suggested Name for the Query" box. Please make sure it consists of only letters, digits, and "_" in order to create an acceptable file name. You don't need to worry about this, if you provide a suggested name for your query.

E-mail Address:
Enter your e-mail address in the box provided. This is the address where the result will be sent. Also, this will be used as the key to put your queries into a database on the server. You need this address to look up your queries in the future. Please make sure you provide the correct e-mail address.

Suggested Name for the Query:
Enter a suggested name for your query in the box provided. This will be used to create a file name for your query. Please make sure it consists of only letters, digits, and "_" in order to create an acceptable file name. This field is optional. If you don't provide one, your last name will be used to create a file name.

Key Words:
Enter a list of key words your query may contain. This will be provided to you when you want to retrieve your query in the look up query, "Forgot", section to help you decide which query you want to look up.

Molecule ID Type:
Choose one of ID types from the dropdown list and provide a valid ID for your chosen ID type in the next section. You can choose the "Sequence" option, if you want to pasts a sequence in the next section.

ID Type Examples:

Sequence Paste your sequence and make sure to see the explanation below about the sequence criteria.

Molecule ID or Sequence:
Enter the molecule ID or the sequence about which you want to search the databases. This should be a valid ID and match the molecule ID type in the above section.
If you have a sequence in this field , please make sure its title line does not run on more than one line (in the text area provided). MIA will work fine even if you do not provide a title for your sequence. Just make sure the actual sequence starts on either the first or the second line in the text area provided for this field.
If you use the "identical" option with the sequence and do not have any result, probably there is no identical match for the sequence. In this case, try "best" or "above E value" options.

Look up a Saved Query

The input to the look up query section contains the following fields:

Look up, Query Name:
Enter the query name, which is a file name you have on the server, you want to look up in the box provided and click on the radio button for this option. Please make sure you have the correct file name. If you are not sure, choose the forgot option and provide your e-mail address to display a list of all files you have on the server.

Forgot, E-mail Address:
Enter your e-mail address in the box provided and click on the radio button for this option. Since your e-mail address is used to record the data for your queries into a database on the server, please make sure to provide the correct e-mail address to display a list of the files you have on the server. Once the list of your files is displayed, you can either retrieve your files or delete them.
